Blog Prompt: Expectations

What have been your experiences with student expectations not lining up with your expectations as a tutor?  Have you encountered students who wanted something very specific (proofreading? editing?  Looking for comma spliced?) and simply weren't interested in working on the big picture stuff?

How did/would you handle such a situation?
